Yasmin Ahmad.

She was naturalborn story teller that was true to her heart. Her movies are mostly inspired by her own life. She died 2 nights ago after collapsing during a presatation at Sri Pentas. It's a great loss.
I remember the one and only time that i met her at a drama presentation at Central Market@Annexe, you could feel the warmth and friendliness she radiates. Always had a dream to work with her on an Advertisment. Guess it shall remained a dream. Her works will always be a inspriration to me.

A Towering Malaysian she was. God bless her soul.

Monday morning, didn't manage to sleep, high fever. So went for animation exam, with a bad headache and chills. sat there for 25 minutes, manage to finish the paper.

Tuesday night, Starbucks@Assunta Hospital. Got admitted into the hospital right after my exam. with 40.4 Celsius high fever. so still here now.

recently been really stress out till i'm like 4 kg lighter... but now atleast everything is clearer now, can look at things one at a time again.

Watch a play last Sunday, thanks to Rachael for planning and paying for me(its my belated birthday present) and EuBing for fetching me. the title was OMG (oh my God).

Following the hugely successful 8 Ways to Lighten the School Bag, KLPac will be bringing to you Oh My God (OMG) - the product of our 2nd community writing project. Directed by popular playwright Mark Beau de Silva with the assistance of Juria Toramae, Oh My God (OMG) is a dark comedy on Sunday School crushes, looking covered and cute for your man, and other things people do before they go to heaven.Listen to Mable and Tini gossip on men, women and sex while they munch on keropok, learn how to dress down and still 'turn them on' from Mak Nani, and chat with Joseph the Jesus Man; the caretaker from the church and Mary who has a shower cap story to tell...Oh My God (OMG) is a story about the women (and some men) and their religions in Malaysia.

My thoughts on the play, it was good. acting was superb. the storyline or plot was good. just lacking the conversations. i thought the dialog was very shallow, maybe because it was such controversial stuffs, so they didn't want to discuss it more? they mention the issues, but don't go deeper than that. but all in all...still great stuff. a better review here by Lordson.

Anyway, i been busy with classes and also been going Central Market Annexe for the Emergency Festival. The Festival is great, everyone should catch it before its ends. It open my eyes on alot of things and also learn the missing history that was never taught to me. I was there 3 times this week.

Make sure you catch the theatre performace, New Village and the Pineapple Rice. Its really awesome stuff.

1955 Baling Talks - a reading of the full transcript of this historic
meeting. Listen to the words of Tunku Abdul Rahman, Chin Peng & David

Operasi Oktober follows the story of four young Malay(si)ans as they prepare for a production about a revolution, and what happens when productions and revolutions don't go according to plan.

Black & White

feeling gloomy the other day, so decided to go for a exhibition in Annexe@Central market. The Black & White Fest is a mini multi-arts fest that is a celebration of Diversity.
Divided into three parts:
1. Diversity - a Photography Exhibition
Ten Malaysian photographers return to their first love, black & white photography, to seek diversity in a monochromatic world. All works are shot on black & white film and printed on silver gelatin paper.

2. Wayang Kita-Kita - Poster Exhibition
Filmmaker Amir Muhammad and designer Liza Manshoor celebrate the 75th anniversary of Malay cinema by turning hundreds of "found" black & white stills from early Malay movies into quirky posters. The show implicitly acknowledges the crucial role of piracy in constructing our cultural memory.

3.Constitutional Amendments - Text Installation
The Malaysian Constitution has been amended over 600 times since 1957. The Centre for Independent Journalism's interactive exhibition highlights some of the more dubious changes and asks you to mark your preferences between the original and the amended ones. Do you dare make an informed choice?

What really struck me during the exhibition is the Constitutional Amendments, 600 over changes in 51 years, that's crazy. I guess it's our own fault in away, for giving the BN goverment 2/3 majority in Parliament for so long. They making the Constitutional a book of jokes. Argh...

Was at KLPac for the opening night for Christopher Ling, Love & Beauty - The Sonnets of William Shakespeare.
The play is based on their own interpretation of 21 different sonnets i think.

One man considers the merits of love and beauty in the course of one night. Sometimes whimsical and funny, at other times poignant and sad, Love & Beauty presents the timeless sonnets of William Shakespeare in a heady mix of musings, music and multimedia. -The Curious Residency.

For me the play was only okie, The funny wasn't funny enough, the witty wasn't witty enough, the sad also wasn't sad enough. The characters was kinda weak, did not really show. Or maybe cause i don't understand. But the way the play was done was really cool though, something new to me. With a multi-sensory performances, Text on screen, Video, Music, Dancing and the the acting. It was sure a complex and cool play. Could have be better, but i would still recommend everyone to watch it.

In Malaysia, Home and Culture Ministries to formulate RACE RELATIONS ACT, a law to unite us all. For What? I didn't know we had a problem, or maybe I'm ignorant. I know we may have different color skin but we still breath in the same haze prone air, drink the same brownish water, use the same pothole ridden road, and of cause bleed the same red color blood... I think the Act will only remind people of differences. What with tolerance anyway? everyone is asking us to tolerate each other, why can't we just accept each and everyone as a unique being. why?

Its take 14 days notice to organize an emergency Parliament meeting. For What? dont they understand the meaning of EMERGENCY?

Today is the end of my internship officially, cause i will still be going back there next week to finish some stuff. Now its time to get some rest, after that slog it out and churn out a 20+ page final report, to show the university the work i done and what i have learn from the internship. Its kinda stupid the way the uni is evaluating the internship, its 60% for final report and 40% evaluation by your bosses. Meaning if you darn good at crapping in your final report, you most probably still can get really good marks even if you suck at work.

I'm really really going to miss the place, the people there are simply amazing to work and hang out with. They treat work really seriously and the same goes with play...hehe. This short and sweet journey in Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia have taught me so much about advertising and also working life. I have grown and matured so much there. Can never thank them enough for this great oppurnity to intern there. Memory i will cherish forever. Lesson i will remember forever. My lovemark is Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia.

8 Ways to Lighten the School Bag, part 2 of The Curious Residency at KLPac. Part 1 was After Ours by the way. Was there today,as usual great script, excellent directing and awesome acting. The play take a humourous look at our beloved country and it's education system.

The story starts with parents and teachers meeting up to dicuss about a fight in school between thier childrens, Brana, Shirin and Kelvin. It take you through a investigation as they uncover details of why the fight happpened. Bringing you through Moral lesson/Ugama class, History, Pedidikan Jasmani, Chemistry , English literature and so on...to discover why...

Doesnt it look like something like the Superhero cartoon "The Incredibles"? The HP now has some funky glowing bevel to it, really superhero like. For me it dont look like a computer brand anymore, look like some icon you seen on a MAC. Prefer the well recognized previous logo anytime.

after our's...

Today i went for the play ''after our's'' directed by Helena Foo presented by KLPac. Its the 1st show of the 3 part series of The Curious Residency. The link here.

synopsis:
After Our's is an edgy relationship comedy about several couples from all walks of life having troubled conversations. A humorous yet honest look at the complexity of modern day relationships, through witty dialogue and compromising situations, the play takes us from the beginning of a relationship to the aftermath of one, examining every stage in between the drama, heartache and confusion.

The play was really quite explicit and vulgar at some part, but its still really good and funny. Acting was great as usual.

What i learned from it?? haha...sometime being an Asshole is a gift. =P and Love is like a guessing game, sometime you get it right and you get a fairytale ending that goes like..they live happily ever after. If you get it wrong, welcome yourself to Nightmare at Elm Street.
Love is like standing on the edge of the water and you decide to jump, without knowing whether its shallow or deep when you reach the bottom. Smash...ouch, paralyse from the neck down if its shallow. If its deep, welcome to a whole new world under the sea, you may find Nemo, SpongeBob, may even get to swim with little mermaid or if the shallow water didnt get you, meet Jaws and if you are lucky hop away with a missing leg...
Love is like those carnival games, some games where everyone wins and some game only the luckiest or most talented wins. The games everyone wins but the prize is just a lousy plastic key chain, its like lust at first sight and after sex...its end there. The game that only the luckiest or most talented win..thats love where two people meet and sparks fly and they work hard to keep it that way. Its like wining the biggest prize at the carnival. A big stuffed Hippopotamus?

Recently i attended another movie premiere, it the thai movie ''Ghost House". dont watch it at cinema unless you like me get a free tickets. Also attended an event by Sloggi "Art for Humanity" Pictures and elaboration will come later...

internship is ending soon, final report due after the soon. i think i learn much more about advertising during my almost 3 months internship than 2 years plus in the university. I learn a lot about advertising rules and mass comm theories in uni but nothing compare to real life experiences in an ad agency. So please choose wisely when applying for internship, choose a company that you think which give you the best training. Don't settle for second best. To tell you the truth I was darn fortunate to get into the agency i am interning now, cant thank them enough for giving me this opportunity to learn and build friendship with amazing people. Thank you.

This few week was really happening for me, been meeting up with friend that i never seen for awhile now. Watch short+ sweet Malaysia 2008 at KLPAC...it was Awesome. Watch movies like 4BIA, its the funniest Thai horror movie i seen....aik aik aikkkk........... Today was Penelope, fairy tale+modern+love story kinda movie... typical should bring your gf and watch...haha...thanks to my friend sweet sweet i get to watch the premiere. First movie premiere i been lor...katak di bawah tempurong. Thanks

Short+Sweet Malaysia 2008

There's a virus a-blowing in this direction - the wildly successful 10-minute theatre festival which kicked off in Sydney 8 years ago has terrorised Melbourne and Singapore and is making its way to Kuala Lumpur!

Over two weeks, Short+Sweet Malaysia 2008 will premiere 30 all-new, 10-minute plays, a showcase of bite-sized dramatic treats by some of the best established and emerging writers, directors and talents in Malaysia and across the globe. Competition will be fierce as the panel of industry judges will select which plays get a spot in the Gala Final. Audiences will also get to vote for their favourite play to put it in the running for the People's Choice Award!

Comedy, tragedy, mystery, suspense and maybe even the odd bit of food thrown in, it's high-drama 10 minutes at a time! Quite frankly, we wouldn't have it any other way...

I went for it today, its the premier. It was money well spend, i think i didn't pay enough... Yes its that good, you wouldn't mind paying more. The acting was superb, the emotion the actor showed was so real you could feel it. The voice projection, the witty lines, the jokes, wooohoo..the swearing..it makes swearing sound so elegant(serious). Even though it's short plays, every single play was 101% satisfaction. Drama at its best...

I highly recommend you all not to miss it.

Been busy with my internship lately..so can't blog that often anymore. So people please bear with me for the unupdated blog for this internship period. Today i finally get to write a Job Write, its like a brief from the suits side for the creative team to tell them whats up and what next. Even though it was a really short and simple Job Write i feel almost a little tiny bit like an AE.

beautiful weekend

last weekend was pack with tiring competition, wonderful dinner, great drama, corn fill movie, uneventful race, stupid football.

it started on Saturday morning 8am, i was suppose pick my teammates up at ss2 to go for the inter-faculty futsal competition in 12th college UM. but when i woke up, my mom say that she needed the car, thank God that my teammate have their own transport. so we decide to meet at um. the competition was played under hot sun. the game was fast pace and we were out class...haha..not really lar..but we lost all the game.

went home bath and slept for awhile. until 5. pick up babe and follow the map to KLPac for a play "uncut, untitled, paper house'' it 3 different plays by 3 young directors. the 3 plays were great, the storyline was short and nice, jokes were funny, the acting was real, the emotion was so real, i felt their anger, sadness, happiness..... respect to the actors and actresses.

Too late to bring her to the police and unsure of her background, the sisters decide to shelter the girl for the night. As they decide on what to feed the girl and what to do with her the next morning, the sisters realise that they are lost in many ways themselves, and discover that the answers to the questions in their hearts are found in the paper house left for them by their mother.

after finding my way back to PJ, we decided to drop by mid valley and watch a movie. movie was fa so so lar...

Sunday was Race Day. my bro back from HK took me tothe F1 in Sepang. was hoping it would rain, but it didnt. race was anti climax. saw alot of half naked people there though..must be the weather..hahaha.

night was football, Liverpool..nothing to say, arsenal so unlucky...at least my stomach was full.

now Monday back to reality. weekend was like a dream, I didn't want to wake up from. thank you.
